Roles & Responsibilities

Audit provider records for accurate CPT and ICD-10 coding and ensure clinical documentation supports coding decisions
Compile clear, actionable audit reports with analysis of findings and maintain audit logs for quality tracking
Communicate findings to physicians and midlevel providers—provide constructive feedback to improve documentation
Design and implement documentation support tools and education plans in collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Manager
Train new revenue cycle staff on coding and documentation guidelines and provide ongoing coding support to billing teams
Perform coding tasks as needed and assist management with evaluation of coding activities and staff performance
Consistently meet productivity targets for record audits and contribute to continuous improvement of coding quality

Qualifications

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) — required
Associate degree in a related field — required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Minimum five (5) years combined inpatient/outpatient coding and auditing experience
Proven professional physician coding experience in an office-based setting and experience with professional claims coding
Experience interacting with physicians to provide education and documentation feedback
Onsite work capability in Dover, DE

Education

Associate Degree in a related field (required)
Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong expertise in CPT and ICD-10 coding
Medical record auditing and clinical documentation review
Professional/physician claims coding and charge entry understanding
Provider education and communication skills for delivering feedback
Familiarity with multi-specialty coding and revenue cycle processes
Audit reporting and maintaining audit lodges
Good analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to train and mentor revenue cycle staff
