Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding
• Take and record vital signs, measure intake/output, and observe for changes in condition
• Report and document abnormal signs and symptoms promptly to the care team
• Support restorative care activities such as range-of-motion and assistive device use
• Assist the treatment team with patient-specific care plans and daily living activities
• Follow infection control, universal precautions and proper body mechanics at all times
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families and interdisciplinary staff

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification required
• Minimum six (6) months experience in a long-term care (LTC) setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers required within six months of hire
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English and follow oral/written instructions
• Physical ability to perform essential duties, including lifting and mobility assistance
• Previous Hawaii experience is a plus

• Patient care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Taking vital signs and measuring output accurately
• Recognition and reporting of abnormal signs and symptoms
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Body mechanics, assistive devices and restorative care techniques
• Basic medical/nursing terminology and patient assessment
• Observation, documentation and clear oral/written communication
• Cultural competency and tolerance of challenging behaviors
