Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing patients and procedure rooms to ensure safe, efficient cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.
• Support the RN and physicians during diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, including catheter placement for angiograms and recordings.
• Operate x-ray equipment accurately and independently while maintaining radiation safety compliance.
• Obtain and demonstrate safe hemostasis following procedures.
• Monitor and document all procedures accurately in the MacLab system.
• Perform infection-control–compliant room turnover after every procedure.
• Administer intra-coronary medications per Bayhealth and unit policies.
• Participate in ongoing education, workshops, and mandatory training; pursue specialty certification (RCIS).
• Complete a four-month onboarding fellowship with clinical rotations and weekly didactic sessions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program required; bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology preferred.
• RCIS required if graduate of a Cardiovascular Technology program; ARRT (RT) required if graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program — obtain within 4 months if not already held.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required; maintain yearly unit and hospital mandatory training.
• Minimum: 18 months experience in diagnostic radiology OR completion of an accredited radiologic or cardiovascular technology program with letter(s) of recommendation.
• Preferred: 2 years experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab performing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures; interventional lab experience is a plus.

Education

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or Cardiovascular Technology (required)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology (preferred)

• Patient preparation and procedure room setup
• Operation of x-ray equipment and strong radiation safety practices
• Hemostasis techniques and post-procedure patient care
• MacLab documentation and accurate procedural charting
• Assisting physicians during cardiac catheterization and peripheral angiography
