Shift Type: Night shifts, 3x12-hour nights per week (0.9 FTE): 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (rotating nights). Schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday; plus 24 hours of on-call coverage spread over a 6-week period.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adults and adolescents on an inpatient behavioral health unit
• Lead clinical teams when serving in the Charge nurse role, guiding care and coordinating shifts
• Perform thorough psychiatric and medical assessments and develop patient-centered care plans
• Administer medications safely and manage Pyxis workflows and medication reconciliation
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR to ensure continuity and quality
• Support de-escalation and crisis intervention, using therapeutic approaches to maintain safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members — psychiatrists, therapists, social workers — to optimize outcomes
• Participate in on-call coverage and timely clinical decision-making during assigned on-call periods

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license (required)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Experience in inpatient Behavioral Health nursing (preferred)
• Willingness and ability to serve as Charge nurse during shifts (required)
• Competency with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication systems (required)
• CPI (crisis prevention/intervention) training preferred
• Comfort working night shift schedule and managing occasional holiday coverage
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Assessment and monitoring of psychiatric symptoms and medical comorbidities
• Medication administration and safe handling using Pyxis
• Proficient Epic charting and electronic documentation
• De-escalation techniques and crisis intervention
• Leadership skills for charge responsibilities and shift coordination
• Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Time management for 12-hour night shifts and on-call duties
