Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
• Monitor and document residents’ condition, reporting changes to nursing staff in a timely manner
• Support safe mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Communicate effectively and kindly with residents, families, and the care team
• Participate in care plan implementation and follow assigned tasks to support positive outcomes

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Excellent communication skills and a patient, empathetic bedside manner
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist with resident transfers for clinical shifts
• Reliable, punctual, and able to pass any required background and health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA program and current GNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and basic hygiene needs
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe handling of linens and equipment
• Skill in observing and reporting subtle changes in resident condition
• Strong teamwork, time management, and documentation skills
