Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to geriatric residents, supporting activities of daily living
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding while preserving dignity
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe, report, and document changes in residents’ conditions promptly and accurately
• Collaborate with nurses and the care team to follow care plans and maintain continuity
• Create a warm, friendly environment that promotes residents’ emotional and social well-being
• Maintain infection control, cleanliness, and safety standards in resident areas

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable assisting with personal care and mobility; patient-centered attitude required
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screenings, and required health screenings
• Effective verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a care team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
• Familiarity with infection prevention and resident safety practices
• Basic documentation skills and ability to follow care plans
• Empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills with older adults
• Ability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and remain calm under pressure
