Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team to ensure timely care
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care provided accurately and timely to maintain clear resident records
- Create warm, compassionate interactions — provide emotional support and companionship
- Help maintain a clean, comfortable environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Collaborate with nurses and other care team members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- Excellent communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus but not mandatory
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and elder care best practices
- Comfortable with resident mobility assistance and safe transfer techniques
- Strong observational skills to notice and report changes in resident condition
- Familiarity with infection prevention and safety protocols
- Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
- Warm interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
