Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM day shift

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting — with dignity and compassion
Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
Monitor and document resident conditions, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
Provide friendly companionship and engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities
Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
Collaborate with the care team to ensure personalized, resident-centered care

Qualifications

Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required
Active state nurse aide registry status as applicable
CPR/BLS certification preferred (or willing to obtain)
Demonstrated compassion and strong communication skills with older adults
Ability to pass facility background checks and required health screenings

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a GNA training program or comparable nurse aide program

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of basic patient care, ADLs, and geriatric needs
Familiarity with infection control and safe transfer techniques
Comfortable with documentation and clear communication with clinical staff
Strong observational skills to notice subtle changes in resident condition
Team player attitude and ability to follow care plans and directions
