Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and document resident conditions, including vital signs and behavioral changes
- Support safe mobility and fall-prevention practices during transfers and ambulation
- Follow care plans and report changes or concerns promptly to nursing staff
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure a clean, safe environment
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification in Maryland or the ability to obtain it
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Comfortable working night shifts and providing hands-on resident care
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and transfers with proper body mechanics
- Familiarity with documentation and reporting of resident observations
- Understanding of infection prevention and safe handling practices
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and follow nursing direction
- Empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
