Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a Med/Surg/Telemetry unit using best practices and clinical judgment
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond effectively as part of rapid response/code teams
• Manage IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, PICC care, central line blood draws and peripheral line management
• Administer blood products and manage pre/post hemodialysis care when needed
• Perform wound care including wound vac management and colostomy/feeding tube management
• Deliver non-invasive respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC) and perform oral suctioning and oxygen management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Work) to coordinate safe, holistic patient care
• Document accurately in Epic and communicate using SBAR to ensure continuity and safety of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse licensure (state-required) — able to practice in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience (HARDSTOP: 2 years required)
• BCLS/BLS certification required prior to start
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
• Comfortable working nights, floating to other units, and responding to rapid response/code situations
• Able to work holidays and participate in Storm/Hurricane/Disaster teams as required
• Traveler-friendly: first-time travelers accepted; local candidates also considered

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Med/Surg patient care and rapid response team utilization
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration and PICC/central line care
• Wound care, colostomy and feeding tube management
• Non-invasive airway management, CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Experience with Epic, Pyxis and SBAR-style communication
• Ability to manage complex patient diagnoses: COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, renal failure, CVA and post-surgical care
