Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality acute MedSurg and neuro-rehab nursing care for a primarily neuro population
• Perform and maintain competency in IV therapy, wound care, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes
• Maintain strict sterile technique during procedures and SIMs Lab–validated skills
• Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias (dysrhythmia exam required prior to acceptance)
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary rounds and partner closely with patients and families to support rehabilitation goals
• Float to MedSurg units as needed and support unit staffing with flexibility and professionalism
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR
• Support patient safety and unit flow during busy periods and shift changes

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for practice in Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (2 Years noted)
• MUST HAVE Level 1 trauma experience
• BLS certification required
• FIM familiarity preferred; rehab experience preferred
• Able to pass dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed) and pass SIMs Lab skills (Foley insertion & central line dressing change) on day 1 of orientation
• Travel nurses must have their own vehicle
• Must adhere to facility appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men clean-shaven for fit test)

Education

• Active RN license (BSN not required)
• BLS certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg fundamentals and acute care assessment skills
• Neuro rehab diagnoses experience (TBI, CVA, post brain tumor resection, transplant care exposure is helpful)
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR charting
• Sterile technique and procedural competency (Foley, central line care)
• IV therapy and wound care expertise
• Dysrhythmia recognition and rhythm interpretation
• Excellent communication skills for patient/family-centered rehab care
• Ability to work in a low-stimulation neuro environment and coordinate with therapy teams
