Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor and prioritize care for telemetry patients using best practices in cardiac monitoring
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following facility protocols
- Interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms and escalate changes in condition promptly
- Document patient status, interventions and outcomes clearly in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
- Provide compassionate patient and family education about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergent situations, contributing to patient safety
Qualifications
- Active RN license (North Carolina) or ability to obtain state licensure promptly
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with telemetry experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Current CPR certification and up-to-date mandatory immunizations as required by facility
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
Education
- Nursing degree (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpreting rhythms
- Solid knowledge of acute care nursing practices and medication administration
- Skilled in IV therapy, patient assessment and management of cardiac patients
- Comfortable with electronic health record documentation and clinical workflows
- Excellent teamwork, communication and patient advocacy abilities
