Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Compensation & Pension (C&P) and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and empathy
• Perform interview-based evaluations and focused physical assessments (range of motion and muscle strength testing)
• Prepare clear, timely exam reports and any required addendums or medical opinions
• Maintain accurate non-treatment exam documentation and follow-up administrative tasks
• Coordinate with VES scheduling and onboarding teams to ensure smooth patient flow
• Respect Veteran confidentiality and provide a respectful, trauma-informed evaluation experience

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state(s) of practice
• Experience or comfort with interview-based medical exams and focused physical assessments
• Strong clinical documentation skills and experience writing medical reports/addendums
• Background in general medicine or specialties such as family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery preferred
• Ability to work PRN and meet geographic requirements (e.g., within a 50-mile radius of assigned site or have an office within 50 miles when required)
• Reliable access to a professional office (for 'own office' openings) or willingness to work at designated VES facilities
• Comfort with non-treatment, examination-only workflows (no prescribing or ongoing treatment)

Education

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred
• Active NP credentialing and any state-required certifications/licenses

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in interview-based assessment techniques and structured clinical interviews
• Proficient with range of motion testing and manual muscle strength assessment
• Excellent medical-legal style report writing and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills for clear, respectful Veteran interactions
• Time management to complete exams and required administrative follow-up
• Familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam processes and expectations
