Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across the continuum of acuity
- Perform blood gas analysis and interpret results to guide clinical decisions
- Manage ventilators and noninvasive ventilation settings safely and effectively
- Assess patients' respiratory status and implement individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care, equipment use, and follow-up
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with infection control protocols
- Participate in competency testing and skill validation to ensure best practices
Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist license (state-appropriate) required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Blood Gas Technologist Certificate required
- Successful completion or willingness to complete Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam
- License and certificate verification required prior to start
- Must meet immunization and health screening requirements including COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, TB testing, Varicella, Tdap, fit test, and a minimum 10-panel drug screen
- Willingness to complete a physical/health statement and Prime color-blind test
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong expertise in respiratory therapy and blood gas analysis
- Proficient ventilator management and airway support techniques
- Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical decision-making
- Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced settings
- Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond effectively in urgent situations
- Competence with clinical documentation and electronic health records
