Location: Elmira, NY
Contract Type: Perm
Shift Type: Block schedule (specific start/end times vary). In-house NNP coverage 24/7; physicians cover block shifts which may include nights, weekends and transport call as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical care to critically ill newborns in a Level III NICU
- Manage ventilated neonates using conventional ventilation and HFOV when indicated
- Respond to and assess critically ill newborns and attend high-risk deliveries
- Participate in neonatal transport of infants referred from surrounding hospitals
- Collaborate closely with NNPs, MFM specialists and pediatric subspecialty consultants
- Adhere to and promote evidence-based clinical guidelines to improve outcomes
- Contribute to a team-focused environment that supports excellent nursing and consult resources
Qualifications
- Board Certified Neonatologist (Board certification required as stated)
- Completion of neonatology fellowship prior to start (new graduates accepted if fellowship completed)
- Comfortable practicing in a Level III NICU and managing high-acuity neonatal patients
- Experience or comfort with neonatal transport, high-risk delivery attendance, and advanced ventilation modalities (conventional & HFOV)
- Willingness to work block schedule and collaborate with NNPs and multidisciplinary teams
- Note: position is not accepting visa candidates and not accepting locum candidates
Education
- Completion of an accredited neonatology fellowship (required prior to start)
- Board Certification in Neonatology
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical skills in neonatology and NICU care
- Proficiency in mechanical ventilation (conventional and high-frequency oscillatory ventilation)
- Experience with neonatal transport protocols and triage of transferred patients
- Ability to assess and stabilize critically ill newborns quickly and effectively
- Comfort collaborating with Perinatal/Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) and pediatric subspecialists
- Teamwork, leadership, and commitment to evidence-based practice
