Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive mental health assessments and evidence-based treatment planning
- Deliver individual and group therapy tailored to a corrections population
- Collaborate with custody and interdisciplinary clinical teams to coordinate care
- Document clinical encounters accurately and timely to support continuity of care
- Participate in treatment team meetings and case reviews to improve outcomes
- Offer crisis intervention and risk assessments when urgent needs arise
Qualifications
- For Psychologist: Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) and active licensure or eligibility in California
- For LCSW: Master of Social Work (MSW) and active LCSW license in California
- Experience or comfort working in a corrections/prison environment preferred
- Demonstrated skills in assessment, individual and group therapy, and treatment planning
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility security requirements
- Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) for Psychologist roles
- Master of Social Work (MSW) for Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) roles
- State licensure required for the role you are applying to
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical knowledge of serious mental illness, trauma-informed care, and correctional mental health needs
- Skilled in evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT basics, and group facilitation
- Ability to assess risk, safety, and suicide precautions in a high-acuity setting
- Proficient documentation and electronic health record skills
- Cultural humility and effective communication across diverse populations
- Time management and the ability to work independently within institutional policies
