Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and treat acute inpatient physical therapy patients, delivering safe, evidence-based care
• Manage a daily caseload (~12 patients) with efficient, accurate documentation in Cerner
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans for post-op ortho, CVA and deconditioned patients
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams including nursing, physicians and rehab aides
• Provide patient and family education to support safe discharge and functional recovery
• Float to Medical/Surgical, ICU and ER as needed and adapt quickly to different patient acuity levels
• Participate in department orientation and ongoing competency development

Qualifications

• Active California Physical Therapy License (required)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of acute inpatient physical therapy experience
• Comfortable treating TKA/THA, post-spinal surgery, general ortho and CVA patients
• Experience with Cerner or equivalent electronic medical record charting
• Ability to float to ICU, ER and med/surg units and manage varied caseloads

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong acute care and inpatient PT clinical skills
• Proficient patient documentation and electronic charting (Cerner)
• Knowledge of post-op orthopedics, neurological (CVA) and medical/deconditioned presentations
• Ability to prioritize and manage a busy caseload (~12 patients/day)
• Excellent communication and teamwork across disciplines
• Ability to adapt to changing unit needs and float coverage
