Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations across requested body parts for radiologist interpretation
• Apply radiation protection principles and exercise professional judgment during procedures
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely paperwork accompanies each procedure
• Manage transducer care and upkeep, including Trophon station responsibilities
• Participate in departmental quality assurance and assist efforts to obtain and maintain accreditations
• Assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures when needed
• Consult with referring physicians and collaborate with the care team to optimize patient outcomes
• Pursue continuing education to meet radiology and RDMS requirements and support departmental growth

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — American Heart Association required
• Able to perform all diagnostic exams related to assigned modality
• Ability to perform duties in two ultrasound fields (e.g., general and vascular, or cardiac)
• Willingness to travel to multiple SEARHC sites as needed
• Flexibility to rotate shifts and assume department responsibility in supervisor's absence

Education

• Current ARDMS in one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient care and communication skills across all age groups
• Diagnostic medical sonography: abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and cardiac proficiency
• Quality assurance and record keeping for imaging services
• Transducer care and maintenance, including Trophon station use
• Familiarity with accreditation processes and continuing education requirements
• Understanding of radiation protection principles and safe imaging practices
• Ability to assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures
