Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating instrument needs and passing tools efficiently
• Maintain and monitor the sterile field to promote patient safety
• Perform surgical counts and documentation to ensure accountability of instruments and materials
• Sterilize and handle surgical instruments according to protocol
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to stay current with OR practices and hospital policies
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, and support staff to foster efficient, safe procedures

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training recommended or willingness to obtain
• Prior OR experience is a plus and will help you hit the ground running
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Up-to-date immunizations as required by facility policy

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and strict adherence to infection control standards
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, trays, and equipment
• Knowledge of sterilization processes and instrument handling
• Proficient in surgical counts and operating room safety protocols
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Patient positioning and basic perioperative care awareness
• Ability to follow surgical routines and adapt to varying case types
