Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilators and provide expert ventilator management for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients (NICU only with prior experience)
• Perform and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and 12-lead EKGs to support patient care decisions
• Deliver breathing treatments, high-flow nasal cannula therapy, Vapotherm support, and chest vest therapy
• Operate and troubleshoot Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators and monitor patients on Phillips telemetry
• Assist with and be proficient in bronchoscopy-related respiratory care
• Serve as Charge RT when assigned—coordinate the RT team, prioritize workload, and support clinical flow 24/7
• Document care accurately in Cerner and collaborate closely with pharmacy, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Precept and orient staff with up to three floor-specific orientation shifts to ensure safe transitions

Qualifications

• RRT or CRT credential required
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience
• Proficiency with bronchoscopy required
• Experience with Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators, Phillips telemetry, and Cerner charting preferred
• Travel assignment experience preferred
• COVID vaccination required and ability to meet facility submission/licensure requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced ventilator management and troubleshooting skills
• ABG collection and interpretation
• EKG acquisition and basic interpretation
• High-flow nasal cannula and Vapotherm operation
• Pediatric and neonatal respiratory care fundamentals (NICU only with prior experience)
• Strong documentation skills in Cerner EMR
• Leadership skills for charge RT responsibilities and staff coordination
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
