Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; 4-week schedule with self-scheduling (finalized by manager), includes 2 weekends per 4-week cycle and every-other-week (EOW) patterns; primarily nights with occasional float to day units/PCU as needed

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry and acute medical-surgical nursing care for a 49-bed unit
• Interpret telemetry strips and electronically sign rhythm assessments at least once per shift
• Manage patients with CHF, respiratory diagnoses (including COVID), GI issues, diabetes, post-cath care and total joint replacement
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips (e.g., Diltiazem/Cardizem) according to unit protocols
• Collaborate with charge nurses, RTs and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe, patient-centered care
• Perform timely Cerner charting and complete required documentation during and after shifts
• Support unit throughput by floating to East Campus or PCU when needed and assisting with orientation expectations

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to work in Arizona required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care/telemetry nursing experience preferred
• Must pass the dysrhythmia exam (80% passing score) within two attempts prior to contract signing
• No full-time/part-time/PRN employment at any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI/Dignity) within the past year (Radius Rule applies)
• Comfortable reading basic telemetry strips and experience with CVA/TIA and total joint replacement patients
• Cerner experience recommended (orientation is brief)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry strip interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Telemetry monitoring workflows and RN strip sign-off responsibilities
• Acute care / medical-surgical nursing best practices
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and administering breathing treatments
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, prioritize tasks, and adapt during floating assignments
