Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality peri-procedural nursing care in the cardiac cath lab for coronary, vascular, peripheral, EP and neuro intervention cases
• Administer and monitor conscious and moderate sedation and manage patient airways as needed
• Manage cardiac drips and vasoactive infusions (e.g., Integrilin, dopamine, vasopressors) and support devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps
• Perform basic EKG interpretation and participate in STEMI-related care and procedural sedation protocols
• Document procedures and patient care accurately in Merge and Cerner
• Collaborate closely with techs, physicians and the lead tech to ensure efficient room assignments and patient flow
• Participate in on-call rotation to support urgent and emergent inpatient cases

Qualifications

• Current California RN license required
• Minimum ~3 years of acute care nursing experience (critical care experience such as ED/ICU/PICU highly valued)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Prior cath lab experience required — no first-time travelers
• Comfortable with conscious/moderate sedation, airway management, cardiac drip infusion management, and familiarity with balloon pumps
• Familiarity with Merge (cath lab documentation) and Cerner EMR preferred

Education

• BSN not required (BSN: No), active California RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in basic EKG interpretation and recognition of acute cardiac events
• Hands-on knowledge of cath lab workflows, equipment, and procedural sedation practices
• Skillful in managing vasoactive drips and hemodynamic monitoring
• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments with high case volumes (10–22 cases/day)
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with techs, physicians and support staff
• Adaptability to variable case schedules and occasional extended case end-times
