Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care for MedSurg/Telemetry Neuro patients
• Assess, plan and implement nursing care including admissions, discharges and daily case management
• Titrate IV drips as ordered (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) and manage PCA pump therapy
• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and communicate changes in patient status to the team
• Perform hourly rounding and prioritize responsiveness to patient needs
• Collaborate with charge nurses, techs and interdisciplinary teams to keep patient flow moving
• Demonstrate telemetry awareness and act on important rhythm changes as needed
• Use mechanical lifts safely and follow unit safety policies
• Complete orientation skills review and pass the open-book orientation exam (90% required)

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in appropriate state for practice
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as listed)
• Prefer travel experience, but strong permanent candidates will be considered
• No employment (full-time/part-time/PRN) with CommonSpirit facilities (including CHI/Dignity) per radius rule
• Clean license/background (no license or background hits)
• Willingness to follow unit policies (e.g., no artificial nails) and pass orientation requirements

Education

• Active RN license (state licensure required)
• BLS (AHA) required
• NIHSS required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• MedSurg and Telemetry clinical experience, especially neuro/stroke care
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• IV medication titration skills (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine)
• Experience with PCA pumps and titratable drip management
• Telemetry strip awareness and basic rhythm recognition
• Familiarity with mechanical lifts and safe patient handling
• Strong prioritization, time-management and patient advocacy skills
• Cultural competency and ability to serve diverse populations (Spanish and other languages helpful)
• Team collaboration, adaptability, and strong attendance
