Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts), 7-7 schedule released 4 weeks in advance; every-other-weekend (EOW) expectation with a requirement of 3 weekend shifts per 4 weeks; includes holidays as scheduled. Staff may be placed on standby (1.5 hour notice, must report within 1 hour if called in).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients on the observation/telemetry unit, interpreting telemetry strips and acting on dysrhythmias
• Safely titrate IV drips (examples: diltiazem, heparin, amiodarone) per unit protocols
• Perform and document clinical skills in Cerner, ensuring accurate, timely charting
• Provide IV access management and coordinate with the SWAT IV team for difficult sticks
• Maintain sterile technique while performing Foley insertions and central line dressing changes; complete required SIMs Lab competencies
• Collaborate with PCTs, respiratory therapy and pharmacy to deliver coordinated acute care
• Float to nearby campuses as needed and adapt quickly to changing patient volumes
• Step into charge nurse responsibilities when short staffed and support unit flow

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit; facility may hold license as indicated)
• BSN required
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (strong MedSurg/Observation and telemetry experience preferred)
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Proven ability to interpret telemetry/dysrhythmias and pass dysrhythmia competency (passing score 80% within 2 attempts)
• Comfortable titrating drips and managing common set-rate infusions
• Willingness to complete SIMs Lab competencies for Foley insertion and central line dressing care

• Telemetry strip interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• IV medication titration and drip management
• Cerner EMR documentation and charting
• Sterile technique and central line/ Foley catheter care
• Strong time management and ability to work 1:4-1:5 ratios
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP/High Flow familiarity and working with RT
• Charge nurse duties and leadership when short staffed
• Ability to float to MedSurg Tele units and adapt to different campus workflows
