Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality PCU/stepdown nursing care to adult cardiac and medical-surgical patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and interpret telemetry/ECG strips to guide timely interventions
• Safely titrate IV drips (heparin, nitro, dopamine, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin) per unit protocols
• Manage arterial lines and other invasive monitoring with competence and confidence
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including charge nurses, RTs, and monitor techs
• Support patient experience and family communication, especially for diverse cultural populations
• Assist with safe patient handling using overhead and portable lifts and operate bladder scanner/vein finder as needed
• Float to MedSurg or ICU when assigned and maintain flexibility to meet unit needs

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (license to submit required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (per job posting)
• Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required
• Competency with arterial lines required
• Comfort and experience with 12-hour shifts and night work
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Valid driver’s license required at submittal (radius rule applies)
• Willingness to pass an orientation skills exam (90% pass required) and adhere to RTO expectations (7 or fewer days upfront)

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
• BSN not required (per job posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• EPIC charting proficiency
• Telemetry monitoring and ECG/strip interpretation
• IV/drip titration and pump management
• Cardiac patient care and post-stent/pacemaker management
• High-flow oxygen therapy troubleshooting
• Dialysis patient care familiarity
• Use of vein finder, bladder scanner, and patient lift systems
• Strong communication, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity (notably Hispanic and Somalian populations)
