Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and rapidly assess patients of all ages presenting to the ER
• Provide urgent and emergent nursing interventions and continuous monitoring
• Perform IV insertion and lab draws as the ED IV team when indicated
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Collaborate with ED physicians and the care team to coordinate patient flow
• Serve as charge nurse when experienced, supporting unit operations and staff
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and next steps
• Maintain safe patient ratios (typically 4:1) and manage 1:1 sitter/security needs when required

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ability to submit license; agency willing to wait)
• Minimum 2 years of ER/acute care nursing experience
• Required certifications: TNCC, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS (NRP not required for travelers)
• Experience with Epic charting system
• Comfortable performing triage, IV insertion, and lab draws
• Willingness to float within Region II when needed
• Ability to work every-other-weekend and holidays as required

Education

• BSN not required; current RN licensure required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing best practices and rapid assessment
• Epic electronic medical record proficiency
• Triage and fast-track patient management
• IV insertion and phlebotomy skills
• Pediatric (PALS) and adult advanced life support (ACLS) knowledge
• Trauma and critical patient recognition (TNCC, NIHSS familiarity)
• Experience functioning as charge nurse and supporting ED workflow
• Adaptability to float across multiple facilities
