Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care and assistance to students in the school setting
Take and accurately record vital signs and communicate any changes to the nursing team
Support school nurses with care plans, basic treatments, and authorized medication administration
Maintain clear, timely documentation in student health records
Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and interdisciplinary staff
Follow infection control practices and ensure a safe, sanitary environment
Assist in emergency response and provide calm, competent support when needed

Qualifications

Active CNA certification in California (required)
Current CPR/BLS certification (required or obtained upon hire)
Experience in school health, pediatrics, long-term care, or similar settings preferred
Up-to-date immunizations and TB test/clearance as required by school district
Ability to pass background check and school-required fingerprinting
Reliable transportation for per diem assignments

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; CNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

Comfort and skill working with children and adolescents
Strong observation, assessment, and documentation skills
Clear verbal and written communication with families and school staff
Basic medication administration knowledge and charting accuracy
Infection control, universal precautions, and safe patient handling
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
