Roles & Responsibilities

• Clean, wrap and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment to ensure patient safety
• Manage inventory of sterile supplies so operating rooms have what they need, when they need it
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washers) and document cycle parameters
• Inspect instruments for wear, damage and proper function; report and remove compromised items
• Maintain accurate records and labeling for traceability and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with surgical teams and support staff to prepare case carts and specialty instrument sets
• Participate in rotating weekend/holiday on-call duties to support continuous patient care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of sterile processing experience (per job posting)
• Certification required: CSPDT (Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)
• Ability to work the posted schedule including rotating weekend and holiday call
• Comfortable following strict infection prevention and sterile processing protocols

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile processing and instrument sterilization techniques
• Inventory management and case cart preparation
• Operation and basic troubleshooting of sterilization equipment (autoclaves, ultrasonic washers)
• Knowledge of sterilization cycles, chemical indicators and documentation practices
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Good communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced surgical environment
