Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to laboring, postpartum, and antepartum patients
• Monitor fetal heart tracings and maternal vitals, titrating medications like Pitocin and magnesium sulfate
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, and emergency procedures
• Educate new parents on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team to ensure safe outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to AWHONN guidelines

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience
• Active RN license (compact or single state) - driver's license required at submittal
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Ability to pass an open-book skills exam with 90% during orientation
• Comfortable with high-risk OB, including HTN and diabetes management

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical skills in obstetric nursing, including fetal monitoring and IV therapy
• Proficient in titrating drips such as Pitocin, Magnesium, and Procardia
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and unit-specific protocols
