Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the infection prevention and control program: develop, implement, maintain, and update the SEARHC IPC plan to align with CDC, CMS, TJC, OSHA, FDA, and APIC guidance
• Conduct surveillance and NHSN reporting: collect, trend, analyze, interpret, and report healthcare-associated infection data and other reportable conditions
• Design and update policies and procedures that translate regulatory requirements and evidence-based practices into operational workflows
• Educate and train staff, patients, families, and communities on infection prevention best practices and deliver new hire and annual orientation
• Serve as chair of the IPC committee and collaborate across clinical, administrative, and public health partners to support systemwide infection control
• Provide oversight of the Employee Health program and ensure timely reporting of IPC measures and outcomes per CMS requirements
• Travel to SEARHC sites to assess, coach, and train staff; be a visible resource and subject matter expert across the region
• Perform data-driven program evaluation and continuous improvement activities to reduce HAIs and improve patient safety

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required; Direct hire must have applied for an Alaska license before start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license
• Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
• BLS current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Minimum 3 years of acute care or infection control experience and/or experience in data collection and performance improvement/risk management
• Experience with basic statistics and epidemiologic principles
• Clinical and Manager Competency assessments required within 3 months of hire and recurrent per policy

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar) required
• Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent noted in posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease principles
• Familiarity with NHSN reporting and HAI surveillance methodologies
• Strong skills in data collection, trending, analysis, and statistical interpretation
• Proficiency with MS Office and database applications
• Ability to synthesize regulatory requirements and translate them into policy and practice
• Excellent communication skills tailored to diverse audiences and multicultural settings
• Project management and performance improvement mindset
