Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare pediatric patients for surgery by performing thorough pre-operative assessments
Coordinate with surgical and perioperative teams to ensure smooth patient flow
Provide age-appropriate education and reassurance to patients and families
Administer pre-operative medications and complete required documentation
Monitor and document vital signs and patient status prior to transport to the OR
Assist with efficient room turnover and maintain sterile, safe pre-op environments

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Washington
Experience in pre-operative care and working with pediatric patients (Pediatrics)
Current BLS required; PALS preferred or obtained shortly after hire
Comfortable with pre-op medication administration and pediatric assessments
Excellent communication skills with children and families; teamwork mindset

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate degree in Nursing or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of pre-operative assessment protocols and pediatric considerations
Familiarity with infection control practices and perioperative safety standards
Skilled in patient/family education and age-appropriate communication
Competent with electronic health record documentation
Ability to triage, prioritize, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
