Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, family-centered pediatric nursing care for children and adolescents
• Manage a small census with clinical independence while coordinating backup support when needed
• Administer medications, monitor patient status, and respond to changes in condition promptly
• Collaborate with respiratory and IV therapists and Family Birthplace staff to ensure comprehensive care
• Document care accurately in the electronic charting system (Meditech Expanse preferred)
• Support ‘rooming in’ for families and create a comforting environment with therapeutic play resources
• Maintain unit safety and be prepared to use the facility panic badge system for immediate assistance

Qualifications

• Massachusetts RN license uploaded and current (required)
• Minimum 3 years current pediatric nursing experience (required)
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
• Skills Checklist - Pediatric and Skills Checklist - Medical Surgical, current within 1 year (required)
• Adult Medical-Surgical experience preferred to support float responsibilities
• Own reliable vehicle for commute to this assignment (required)
• Meditech Expanse experience strongly preferred
• BSN preferred

Education

• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric assessment and intervention skills
• Medical-surgical nursing fundamentals to support float assignments
• Familiarity with Meditech Expanse or similar electronic health record systems
• Ability to work independently in a very small unit and escalate as needed
• Effective communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Comfort managing a 1:3 patient ratio in a community hospital setting
• Attention to detail for documentation, medication administration, and safety protocols
