Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to dysrhythmias with appropriate interventions
• Perform IV starts, maintain peripheral and central lines, and manage PICC lines as needed
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic
• Maintain safe patient ratios (approximately 1:5) and prioritize patient needs
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity within the organization when required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy and social services
• Support transplant and complex medical patients with procedures like paracentesis and biopsy recovery care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in relevant jurisdiction (must be eligible to work in Ohio)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience (strong stepdown/MS/Tele experience may require more)
• Current ACLS and BLS (BCLS) certifications required
• Proven experience with telemetry monitoring and IV starts/maintenance
• Familiarity with Epic for charting and documentation
• Willingness to float to different units within the OSU organization as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) workflows and telemetry monitoring
• IV therapy: starts, maintenance, peripheral and central line care, PICC management
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Epic electronic health record documentation
• Non-invasive airway management and oxygen delivery (nasal cannula)
• IV insulin protocols and endocrine/metabolic management
• Experience in MS/Tele, stepdown, telemetry and transplant unit care
• Ability to work efficiently in interdisciplinary teams and respond to rapid response situations
