Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 12-hour shifts (exact start/end times and specific days to be confirmed by the facility); PACU unit

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, evidence-based post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery
Perform thorough assessments and continuous monitoring of vital signs, airway and pain status
Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with physician orders
Communicate patient status and collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgical teams and providers
Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to PACU protocols and safety standards

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact multistate RN license
Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or available per facility
Experience in PACU or post-anesthesia/post-operative nursing preferred
Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia recovery protocols and monitoring
Airway management basics and pain management strategies
IV medication administration and titration
Accurate clinical documentation and charting (EMR experience helpful)
Perioperative terminology and multidisciplinary collaboration
