Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate post-anesthesia nursing care to patients in the PACU
• Monitor and assess patients' recovery from anesthesia, including vital signs and pain control
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered, and document interventions accurately
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure safe handoffs
• Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized PACU environment, following all policies and protocols

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana (or compact RN where applicable)
• Experience working in PACU or post-anesthesia care preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills specific to post-op care
• Comfort working 10.5-hour shifts and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Experienced in post-anesthesia assessment and monitoring
• Skilled in pain management, airway assessment, and IV therapy
• Proficient with electronic health record documentation and medication administration
• Able to perform rapid interventions and follow escalation protocols
• Strong teamwork, situational awareness, and time management abilities
