Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery
• Assess and monitor patient vital signs, airway status, and pain levels
• Administer medications and manage IVs per physician orders and protocols
• Communicate patient status clearly to anesthesia, surgical teams, and families
• Perform accurate documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Respond quickly to emergencies and escalate concerns appropriately
• Contribute to a safe, efficient PACU environment through teamwork and clinical judgment

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact-state privileges as applicable
• Prior PACU or post-anesthesia experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills in postoperative care
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced perioperative environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in postoperative patient assessment and monitoring
• Knowledge of airway management and pain control strategies
• Familiarity with postoperative medication administration and titration
• Competent in IV therapy, hemodynamic monitoring, and documentation
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple patients safely
• Collaborative mindset and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
