Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert orthopedic post-operative care, ensuring patients recover safely and comfortably
• Perform dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and wound vac maintenance with attention to detail
• Manage NG tubes and Foley catheter care following best-practice protocols
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-focused care
• Advocate for patients and families, delivering compassionate, family-like care in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) with NC nursing license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (explicit requirement)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Orthopedic experience preferred (unit specialty: Orthopedic Surgery)
• Comfortable with Med-Surg and Telemetry float assignments
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and common orthopedic equipment (CPM, bladder scanner, lifts)

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing best practices and post-op care
• Wound care and wound vac maintenance
• NG tube and Foley catheter management
• Use of orthopedic/rehab equipment: CPM, Sara Stedy/Sara Lift, Sky lifts, bladder scanner
• Telemetry and Med-Surg principles for safe patient monitoring
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient advocacy skills
