Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Neuro Stepdown patients with complex neurologic needs
• Perform thorough neurological assessments and monitor telemetry and vital trends
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary team members to create and update individualized care plans
• Administer medications, treatments and interventions safely and in a timely manner
• Educate patients and families on condition, post-acute needs and discharge planning
• Respond to changes in patient status quickly and escalate appropriately to ensure optimal outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and maintain clear communication across shifts

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana (or compact license where applicable)
• Current BLS certification; ACLS strongly preferred
• Clinical experience or comfort working in Neuro Stepdown/SDU settings preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment and prioritization skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to unit needs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with neurologic assessments and interpretation of telemetry
• Familiarity with stepdown level monitoring and post-acute neuro care
• Excellent patient assessment, documentation and time management skills
• Strong communication skills with patients, families and team members
• Ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced environment
