Roles & Responsibilities
- Take vital signs and prepare patients for their appointments
- Assist providers with in-office procedures while ensuring patient comfort
- Serve as a chaperone during sensitive examinations
- Handle prior authorizations for medications and procedures
- Coordinate referrals and manage insurance authorizations
- Apply your knowledge of Kern County insurance plans to help patients navigate coverage
Qualifications
- Current CMA certification and BLS credential
- Experience with vital signs and assisting with procedures
- Strong understanding of prior authorizations and referrals
- Knowledge of insurance processes in Kern County
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR system
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
Education
- CMA certification required
- BLS certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Vital signs monitoring and documentation
- Assisting with urogynecology and gynecologic oncology procedures
- Patient chaperoning and comfort support
- Prior authorization and referral coordination
- Insurance knowledge specific to Kern County
- Cerner electronic medical records system
