Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to medical-surgical patients with conditions like post-op, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infections
• Float to telemetry units as needed, monitoring cardiac rhythms and interpreting strips
• Administer medications, including titratable heparin drips, and manage patient responses
• Maintain sterile field during central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions in SIMs Lab
• Collaborate with a resource RN and charge nurse to ensure optimal patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Participate in unit education on lifts, restraints, and wound care protocols

Qualifications

• Must have recent Level 1 trauma experience in med/surg
• BLS certification required
• Telemetry experience preferred (will float to tele and must pass dysrhythmia exam before signing contract)
• Previous charge nurse experience a plus
• No first-time travelers; must have at least one travel assignment under your belt
• Must have a reliable vehicle for travel to and from the facility
• Professional appearance: natural hair color, no facial piercings, and clean-shaven (for fit test)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in med/surg nursing, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Skilled in sterile field techniques for central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion
• Ability to titrate heparin drips and manage set-rate drips
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with resource RN and charge nurse
• Adaptability to float across med/surg and tele units as needed
