Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care for med/surg patients and help them through recovery
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy safely and accurately
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status, changes, and responses to care
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to coordinate excellent care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, care plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up
• Respond to clinical emergencies calmly and effectively, following established protocols
• Participate in continuous improvement and share ideas to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana or compact RN eligible — ready to practice
• Med/Surg experience preferred; demonstrated competence on a med/surg floor
• Current BLS required; ACLS or other certifications a plus depending on unit needs
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med/surg nursing knowledge including post-op care and complex medical conditions
• IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion pump management
• Proficient documentation in electronic health records
• Patient education and discharge planning skills
• Teamwork, time management, and prioritization under a fast-paced workload
