Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the Med/Surg unit
• Assess, monitor and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Respond promptly to patient needs and escalate concerns to ensure positive outcomes
• Support unit workflow by prioritizing tasks and assisting colleagues during high-acuity periods

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana (or compact privilege where applicable)
• Med/Surg experience (experience on Med/Surg units is a core requirement)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS and other specialty certifications preferred
• Active RN status and ability to meet facility credentialing and background check requirements
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization and communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg nursing practices and common medical/surgical conditions
• Proficient in medication administration, IV care and wound care basics
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to triage, prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Excellent teamwork, patient advocacy and time management skills
