Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Monitor patient status and communicate changes to the care team promptly
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
Document care clearly and timely in the electronic health record
Support a positive unit culture by mentoring peers and participating in quality initiatives

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN eligible)
Medical-surgical nursing experience (preferred)
Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or available upon hire
Demonstrated clinical judgment and strong patient assessment skills
Reliable, professional, and committed to providing respectful patient care

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid understanding of medical-surgical nursing principles and procedures
Medication administration and IV therapy competence
Ability to assess, triage, and prioritize patient needs
Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced situations
