Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and timely
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Document care clearly and efficiently in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to optimize outcomes
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana (required)
• Medical-Surgical nursing experience (preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or other advanced certifications encouraged
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and documentation skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour clinical shifts and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and post-op care
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate charting
• Infection prevention and patient safety best practices
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond to changing patient needs
• Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities
