Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition using strong clinical judgment and compassion
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document in the medical record
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient patient care
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Respond to changes in patient status and escalate concerns promptly
• Maintain accurate, timely charting and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Support unit operations including admissions, discharges, and patient flow

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana (or eligible for licensure)
• Med-Surg clinical experience preferred; strong comfort with medical-surgical patient populations
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications a plus
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and meet the physical demands of bedside nursing
• Clear background check and up to date immunizations as required by facility policy
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and standards of care
• Skilled in patient assessment, IV therapy basics, medication administration, and wound care
• Proficient with electronic health record documentation and charting best practices
• Strong prioritization and time management in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Collaborative approach to working with physicians, therapists, and support staff
