Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a fast-paced 36-bed Orthopedics & Spine Med/Surg unit
• Assess patient status and implement evidence-based interventions for orthopedic, neurologic and trauma patients
• Perform wound care and dressing changes with attention to infection prevention and healing
• Monitor telemetry and continuous pulse-ox, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
• Document accurate and timely patient information in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (PT/OT, respiratory, radiology and more) using Mobile Heartbeat for efficient communication
• Teach patients and families about post-op care, mobility and safety to support recovery
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by participating in shift huddles, handoffs and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Kansas nursing license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience on Med/Surg or Tele units (required)
• Telemetry monitoring experience (preferred)
• Orthopedics & Spine or Med/Surg specialty experience (preferred)
• NIH certification (preferred)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR and Mobile Heartbeat (iMobile) is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med/surg nursing clinical skills and orthopedic/trauma care knowledge
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills
• Wound care and dressing change competency
• Comfortable with traction devices, external fixators, gait belts and mobility assistance
• Proficient documentation in Meditech EMR
• Clear, timely communication using clinical communication tools (Mobile Heartbeat)
• Ability to work effectively in a busy Level II trauma center environment
