Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients and their families
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal tracings, and escalate concerns promptly
• Assist with labor management, deliveries, and immediate postpartum care
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and initial newborn assessments as needed
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education in the medical record
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and support staff to ensure safe outcomes
• Educate patients and families about labor progress, postpartum care, and newborn care

Qualifications

• Current RN license for Louisiana (compact or state license as applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Previous Labor & Delivery experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical training considered
• Ability to safely work 12.5-hour shifts and maintain attention to detail during high-acuity moments
• Clean background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by the facility

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• BSN preferred but all appropriately qualified RN applicants are encouraged to apply

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in maternal and fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Skilled in labor support techniques and intrapartum nursing interventions
• Familiarity with neonatal transition and resuscitation practices
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation and care coordination
