Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality labor and delivery nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity unit
• Function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide immediate newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Circulate for C-section procedures and support the surgical team in the OR
• Perform fetal monitoring and promptly recognize and act on abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Administer and manage medications including insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, and oxytocin per protocols
• Support postpartum care including hemorrhage management, couplet care, breastfeeding support, and wound assessment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response
• Document care accurately in Epic and follow AWHONN guidelines for staffing and practice

Qualifications

• Active RN license required, compact license honored by Swedish facilities
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in a high-acuity, high-pace labor and delivery environment, 3-5 years preferred; 5 years high-risk preferred
• Travel experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP; proof of current NURSYS required for submission
• Supervisory references required and must be provided with application
• Demonstrated ability to circulate in C-section and provide newborn care including administration of Vitamin K and eye care

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in labor and delivery nursing and neonatal resuscitation
• Proficient with Epic electronic health record and electronic fetal monitoring
• Skilled in high-risk obstetrical procedures including forceps/vacuum, hemorrhage management, and tubal ligation recovery
• Comfortable initiating and managing IV therapy and medication drips
• Ability to manage multiple births, postpartum complications, and complex maternal conditions
• Strong assessment skills for newborns including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and hypoglycemia management
• Familiar with AWHONN guidelines, infection control, and isolation precautions
