Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert care to laboring patients, monitoring progress and intervening as needed
• Assist with and manage care during vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, including circulating and recovery duties for C/S patients
• Perform immediate newborn care after delivery to ensure healthy starts
• Support and assist with unit procedures such as D&C, cerclage, epidural anesthesia and tub labor
• Document patient care accurately in unit systems such as CPN and Meditach
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care and shared decision making
• Maintain unit staffing and patient ratio standards while floating as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience (must have)
• AWHONN Intermediate certification (not advanced) OR CEFM
• ACLS, BLS and NRP certifications required
• Clinical experience with vaginal deliveries, c-sections, newborn care and postpartum recovery
• Comfortable working in a busy women and children environment with a 12-bed unit and established staffing patterns

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and delivery clinical skills and monitoring
• Immediate newborn care and resuscitation (NRP)
• Circulating and recovery care for cesarean patients
• Vaginal delivery and cesarean section experience
• Familiarity with procedures such as D&C, cerclage and epidural anesthesia
• Documentation in CPN and Meditach
• Ability to work rotating night schedules and weekend rotations
• Team collaboration and patient-centered communication
