Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients and their families
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate assessment tools and intervene as needed
• Coordinate care with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, neonatology, and support staff
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education clearly and promptly in the chart
• Support and educate patients and families through labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care
• Respond to obstetric emergencies with calm, efficient clinical action and team leadership

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Louisiana or eligible for state licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; NRP and ACLS preferred or obtained promptly
• Current experience in Labor & Delivery preferred; new grads with strong maternity clinical rotation experience are encouraged to apply
• Comfortable working 12.5-hour shifts and participating in unit-based scheduling
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Current immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in fetal monitoring and maternal assessment
• Knowledge of labor and delivery procedures, pain management options, and postpartum care
• Neonatal resuscitation fundamentals and newborn assessment skills
• Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and prioritization under pressure
